Balloons Over Rochester Club Formed

The Rochester Minnesot area has a new balloon group. B.O.R. will be holding monthly meetings every 4th Sunday of the month, 2:00pm at Whistle Binkies on the lake. Come for fellowship, food, and maybe even share something that members can apply to ballooning in '08!! Whistle Binkies asks that we at least purchase a beverage during the meeting, at individuals expense, by the way they have the BEST popcorn in town! Everyone is welcome, pilots, crew, community ed students, and any interested people as there is no membership fee. Congratualations to the B.O.R. Well done Mike.

FAA and BFA "Online" Safety Seminar

The FAA and BFA put together the first web based safety seminar on February 9, 2008. I am waiting for the final word, but I believe it was a great success. I attended the seminar as it happened live from Florida. Great speakers that included Beth Miller (IMC), Tarp Head (Head Balloons), Jim Lynch, Jim Thompson, Bill Wydon, to name a few. Don Edwards did a great job as MC and taskmaster. This was an all day event and worth every minute. Attendees were given insurance credit, as IMC was also very supportive of this first time 'online' event. Looking forward to more in the future. IMC will also give credit hours for FAA Wings seminar attendance in your area. Call IMC for details and possible seminar credits.

7th Annual MBA Safety Seminar; April 8, 2006

The 7th Annual MBA Safety Seminar in 2006 was a great success! The MBA would like to thank all of you for your support. All of the speakers did a wonderfull job with their presentations, and as usual Dave Johnson kept everyone on task. It was a great treat to have Ed Yost available to speak to the group. Brad Temeyer from Sioux Falls has provided a copy of his presentation available for downloading at the link provided.

Mille Lacs - "It's The Lake 2008 "

We came and the winds blew. The 2008 event was great fun! Rose and Jimmie did manage to get in the air with a huge effort from all the crew available. A big thanks to John at the Rockman Resort for plowing and providng a nice launch sight at the South end of the lake. The winds on the surface were a challenge and the winds aloft only stronger. After the launch a relaxing day was spent at the Blue Goose, Gordy's by the fire, taking chances in the Casino, a short nap and getting wet in the pool. Thanks to all the sponsors, Rose and Viv.
