Safety Seminar Committee

- Meeting called to order at 8:00p.m. (Dave Johnson)
In attendance: Roger Adams, Dave Johnson, Bill Marhoun, Glen Terry, and Jake Hamlin.
- Location.
Bunker Hills Activity Center was mentioned as a potential site for a safety seminar in the future.
Motion: Bill Marhoun moved to select Aamodt’s Apple Orchard as the site for the 2001 MBA safety seminar. Glen Terry seconded the motion. The motion passed.
- Presenters/Topics.
- Bill Griffin is confirmed to speak on the practical application of meteorology toward a balloon flight.
- Marlon Perhaus is confirmed to speak about FARs.
- Bill Marhoun and Matt Wiederkehr identified and confirmed first responders to speak about first aid.
- Glen Terry contacted and identified an individual from highway patrol to discuss traffic obstruction, trespassing, etc.
- Assignments for committee members.
- George Ibach will contact Bill Zangs to speak about FARs/airspace regulations.
- Matt Wiederkehr will contact Bill Cunningham to potentially speak about competition ballooning and powerline contact.
- Dave Johnson will contact Marlon Perhaus to determine if the MBA web site address can be included in the notification to local pilots about the safety seminar. Dave will also contact the BFA to include the MBA safety seminar in Sklylines as soon as possible.
- Glen Terry will work with Sam Blackburn to construct a link to an information page describing the safety seminar from the MBA site. Glen will also provide a breakdown of the number of attendees from last year’s safety seminar to help determine new pricing structure.
- Bill Marhoun will contact a representative from Siefert’s Aviation to discuss radio / tower communications at the safety seminar.
- Jake Hamlin will contact individuals to present on the topics of airspace regulations and crew preparedness.
All speakers will be provided with a hotel room and gas money as necessary.

The next meeting of MBA safety seminar committee is to be determined.
